The mLAN16E system allows for up to 16 channels of digital audio to be transmitted over the network, and it also supports MIDI and control data.

The mLAN16E provides interface hardware and connections required to link the Motif ES or 01x or i88x   to an mLAN network, Yamaha's high performance music networking protocol. This connection via a IEEE 1394 "Firewire" cable transforms the Motif ES into a 16-channel, 24-bit/96kHz computer audio and MIDI interface, and will also allow the Motif ES to interface with other mLAN products (such as the Yamaha 01X).
